So I want to play a couple of capcom fighters...

Post by mamegamer29 » October 13th, 2009, 8:17 am

Hello,

For a the past couple of days I've been trying to get Darkstalkers, Marvel vs. Capcom, and Street Fighter vs. Marvel(?) on three different kinds of MAME programs.

MAME32 (103u2)
Mame32b.109
MameUI64

It seems that none of these programs can detect these roms. I've tried refreshing the lists, and I made sure I put them in the right directory and they still don't work.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Oh, and I also downloaded something called "bios", what is that for?

make sure you got your roms from a reputable source

this board turned me on to ROMKeeper, they are absolute pros compared to other sites, other sites seem to just throw together a list of roms sent to them and don't care to try them out or don't care if they are copies of each other, but ROMkeeper is kept up with the detail of a librarian

Go, go RomKeeper! :woot:

RomKeeper = MAME only, unlike most rom sites. RK are the MAME rom specialists. Hassle free - no countdowns, codes, or voting needed for downloading files, and no nasty links to questionable material. Just a free registration and your in. Every file page at RK is bursting with info, trivia and materials for the games. Many games even have video samples. RK is the best for current MAME.

Speaking of that, mamegamer, if you go with RK they are still synced with MAME 0.132 at this time. However most games will still work in 0.134 and RK have stated they will be updating to that version of MAME soon anyway.

Thanks for the help, but is there a way to get these roms to work on the GI versions of mame? I'm not a fan of binary tbh.

Hang on, by GI do you mean GUI? GUI is the binary. (Btw I'm in the chatbox right now if you wanna talk).

Well anyway, for example if you go to MAMEUIFX downloads you have two choices - Binaries for a GUI MAME, or Source Code for a command line version.

A bit more info might help us to help you, see How to Use this Forum. OS and sys specs please. My MAMEFAQs (in my sig) also has a checklist of the most common reasons why roms don't show up in Available.

Just do what Hierophant says and you will have these games running in no time (if your computer can handle it).
